Results grid

Every Dump() call adds a block to the output pane, in call order, and each block renders the result in its own shape.

Block kinds

• A value block shows a scalar, with the label you passed to Dump().
• A table block shows a sequence of records as a grid, with a labelled total above it and a status-bar aggregate across every table block.
• A property block shows a single object’s properties as rows.
• A navigation block shows a related record (see the Navigation topic).
• A JSON block shows a JSON document (see the JSON columns topic).

A large result is capped; the block states the cap rather than pretending it returned everything. A NULL cell renders with a themed italic placeholder, and a number cell respects the current culture’s grouping.

Edit mode

Turn on Edit mode in the output pane’s header to change data:

1. Edit a cell: double-click a cell in an editable block and type a new value. An edited cell is marked as pending.
2. Delete rows: each editable block gains a Delete selection column. Tick a row’s checkbox to mark it for deletion (a data-cell click never selects a row). The header states that checked rows will be deleted on Save.
3. Insert rows: click + Insert row to append a blank draft row, one per new row, and fill it in. The control is present only on an editable block, and it is disabled with a clear reason on a read-only connection.
4. Save: the Save action applies every pending edit, deletion, and insertion, then reads the applied rows back from the database so the grid shows the stored values (including database-generated identity values) rather than your draft.

If there is nothing to save, Save is unavailable rather than offering a label for an empty selection. On a read-only connection Save is disabled with a title naming the connection.

A block that cannot be edited (for example a projection with no primary key) states the reason and offers no edit controls. A write failure renders the real structured error, including the SQL and bound parameter values where the host reports them, and leaves your pending changes in place for a retry.

Drill into results

• A navigation cell (a related record) opens an inline detail strip beneath its row; see the Navigation topic.
• A JSON cell (a { } JSON chip) opens the document; see the JSON columns topic.
• A NULL JSON cell shows a dashed { } + JSON create affordance in Edit mode, so you can author a document for a row that has none.

The results area also has a Results tab strip: drilled-in documents open as their own tabs beside it, so several documents can be open at once.
