The workbench, the grid and the in-app Help are free for everyone. A Pro licence adds the capabilities that make the editor and the connection store more productive.

No account, no time limit.
- The three-pane workbench. Connections panel, C# editor and output pane, with persisted pane sizes.
- PostgreSQL, SQL Server and SQLite connections. Add, test, refresh, edit and remove connections, with a full schema tree.
- EF DLL connections in-session. Inspect an assembly, pick a DbContext and read its model for the session.
- C# scripts and tabs. Write, run with F5, open several scripts as tabs and autosave changes.
- Dump() results and grid editing. Value, table, property, navigation and JSON blocks, with Edit mode for writes.
- Manual JSON authoring. Build a column's structure by hand and author JSON documents in the grid.
- NuGet packages. Attach and resolve packages for a script, cache-first.
- Backup. Back up the whole app data folder to a destination you choose and open the result.
- Themes and accents. Dark, Black, Light and Auto, plus eight accent colours.
- In-app Help. The searchable instruction set, the same content an agent reads over MCP.

Everything in Free, plus the six capabilities below.
- EF DLL connections. Saving an EF DLL connection - and editing a saved one - requires Pro. Using EF DLL connections in-session stays free.
- IntelliSense. Host-backed completion suggestions in the script editor.
- Editor error popup. The hover popup that explains a diagnostic squiggle. Squiggles and running the script stay free.
- JSON structure editor. Paste POCO / EF and Infer from rows require Pro. Manual authoring stays free.
- Connection encryption. Establishing connection encryption (setting or changing the phrase) requires Pro. Unlocking an already-encrypted store stays free.
- MCP server. Run a local Model Context Protocol server so an agent can read your connections and scripts.
Checkout is not open yet. Licence keys will be issued when purchasing launches.
How Pro is verified
A licence key is validated when you enter it and may be revalidated periodically, so validation can require an internet connection. No account is required, and your scripts, connections and database contents are never transmitted. When a gated action is attempted without Pro, DataPad names the capability rather than failing silently.
A key may be time-limited; if it expires, Pro capabilities stop working and DataPad does not delete your data.
