Shortcuts

Settings → Shortcuts lets you remap the three script shortcuts. Each row shows the action, its current chord, and a Change… control; a per-action Reset and Reset all shortcuts restore the defaults.

F1 opens this Help dialog on the How-to pane from anywhere in the app — the same dialog the Help → How to… menu item opens. F1 is the WebF1 Help key (Web Help), so it is fixed and not remappable: it does not appear as a row in Settings → Shortcuts, and capturing it for another action is refused with the reason that it is reserved for Help.

Remap a chord

1. Click Change… beside the action. The control reads Press keys….
2. Press the new combination. A function key may be used alone; a printable key needs a modifier. A chord is supported: press the first step, then the second (for example Ctrl+K then Ctrl+C).
3. Press Esc while capturing to cancel.

A remap takes effect immediately and survives a restart. If the new chord is already assigned to another action, DataPad states the collision (“This chord is also assigned to …”) rather than hiding it — two actions may share a chord. F1 cannot be captured: it is reserved for Help.

Other accelerators

The Files menu shows the New / Open / Save / Save As chords beside their items, and a menu item’s shortcut text is always derived from the same binding the shell listens for, so it cannot drift from the real chord. The How to… item shows its fixed F1 hint the same way.
