Themes and accents

DataPad ships three themes and eight accent colours. View → Settings → Themes controls both, and the toolbar’s theme switcher changes the theme without opening Settings.

Themes

• Dark is the default.
• Black is a higher-contrast dark theme.
• Light is the light theme.
• Auto follows the operating system’s colour scheme, resolving to Dark or Light. Auto is a preference, not a fourth theme: the applied theme is always one of the three concrete sets. DataPad asks the host for the OS scheme and follows a live change while Auto is active. Black is never chosen automatically.

The choice is applied before the first paint, so the app never flashes the wrong theme, and it is remembered across restarts.

Accent colours

Below the theme buttons, the Accent picker offers eight colours. The accent drives selection tints, markers, buttons, and the JSON/grid affordances. The accent is independent of the theme: switching theme keeps the accent, and the default accent restores the theme’s own built-in accent. The choice is remembered across restarts.

Everything follows the theme

Every colour in the app reads a theme token, so the shell, the dialogs, the editor, the results grids, the JSON structures, and the rendered Help all follow the active theme and accent. Third-party widgets — the code editor and the results grid — derive their colours from the same tokens, so no widget breaks out of the active theme.
